UnLtd is the foundation for social entrepreneurs. We find, fund and support social entrepreneurs to get started and then scale their ventures, all of which address major social challenges in the UK. Last year, we backed over 450 social entrepreneurs, with 83% feeling more able to act for social change and 93% growing their impact and revenue; they improved the lives of over 333,000 beneficiaries.
We’re also helping to shape the policy and investment environments that will enable social entrepreneurs to thrive. Our current impact areas are building access to employment for those far from the labour market, developing solutions for an ageing society, and fostering resilient communities.
A registered charity, UnLtd is the sole trustee of the Millennium Awards Trust, which was established by the Millennium Commission with a permanent endowment of £100 million of National Lottery funds. The Trust’s Protector has a fiduciary duty to ensure the integrity of the administration of the Trust and the propriety of its procedures. Appointed by the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport to a three-year term, we are looking to identify a suitably qualified individual to succeed the incumbent who is approaching the end of their term.
The Protector must be a qualified barrister, solicitor, or chartered accountant / investment manager with at least five years’ senior experience, and we are looking for an individual who believes in the potential of social entrepreneurs to transform the UK for good. The role will attract an honorarium of £5,000 per annum and has an average time commitment of c.4 hours per quarter.
To apply, please submit your CV and a covering letter that details how your qualifications, experience, skills, and values meet the role’s requirements. The closing date for applications will be Friday 24 April 2020.
