We are delighted to announce that UnLtd staff, and many of our social entrepreneurs, were acknowledged in the 2018 WISE100 (Women in Social Enterprise 100) list. In particular our very own Denise Ramsey, our associate Nickala, and Social Entrepreneur in Residence Sade Brown are all celebrated.
Organised by Pioneers Post, the goal of the NatWest WISE100 is to recognise “the most inspiring and influential women in social enterprise, impact investment and mission-driven business.” There were hundreds of nominations for this list (a very good thing), so it’s wonderful to see UnLtd's community shine through so strongly. There is an incredible group of women entrepreneurs here, and we’re really proud to see them getting some well-deserved recognition in moments like this. We work hard to rebalance the gender inequality in business and enterprise: only 40% of UK social enterprises are led by women, but 62% of UnLtd social entrepreneurs are. Those fantastic numbers are also down to the very women awarded today - championing equality and challenging us to be better.
Denise Ramsey
We are especially delighted that Denise has been recognised as the amazing force for good that she is. Denise’s courage, vision and passion for social entrepreneurs, particularly those with lived experience, has helped transform UnLtd – in how we are thinking about our governance, our team, our awards and support offer and our community of social entrepreneurs. Thanks to her leadership we are a more courageous and social entrepreneur-driven organisation.
Sade Brown
Sade is CEO and founder of Sour Lemons and a Social Entrepreneur in Residence at UnLtd. Her social enterprise addresses the lack of social mobility and diversity in leadership roles across the creative industries. In her role with us Sade gives us her insight as an expert practitioner on the Leaders with Lived Experience programme, taking the project so much further than it would have otherwise gone.
Nickala Torkington
Nickala is Director of Flourish Together CIC, which supports women to create the change they see needed through peer learning, crowd sourcing and mentoring. With UnLtd she works with communities in the north-west for our MAT programme, and supports a Resilient Community in Stoke. She also co-ordinates our Solutions for an Ageing Society impact stream across Merseyside, with Capacity Labs.
