New legal guide and decision tool for social entrepreneurs

To mark Social Enterprise Day and Global Entrepreneurship Week, we’re pleased to announce the publication of a new legal guide and interactive tool for social entrepreneurs. Social entrepreneurs choose from a wide range of legal forms. However, the multitude of options available can make identifying the most appropriate entity a bewildering task. With social entrepreneurs having varying business model ideas and funding needs, there is no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to legal structure. There are a wide range of issues to consider, but one thing is certain: the legal structure social entrepreneurs choose for their organisation has a significant bearing on their pursuit of social impact and financial sustainability. We have been thrilled to work with the Thomson Reuters Foundation and law firm Morrison & Foerster on this new guide, which features numerous case studies of social entrepreneurs and why they chose their legal form, many of whom are UnLtd Award Winners. Alongside the guide, an interactive tool is designed to help social entrepreneurs navigate their way in finding the most appropriate legal structure. We hope the guide and the interactive tool will help social entrepreneurs across England and Wales make a well-informed decision when considering legal structures. They are also designed to act as valuable resources for lawyers and other advisers to social entrepreneurs. We’d love feedback from users.
