Social entrepreneur Amma Mensah has been appointed as UnLtd’s newest Trustee. Amma’s appointment underlines our ongoing commitment to supporting and empowering leaders with lived experience to make transformational social change.
Amma is the award-winning founder and executive director of Beyond the Classroom (BTC), an ambitious social enterprise, set on revolutionising education.
BTC clients and partners include some of the world’s leading institutions such as Aviva, Impact Hub, the NHS and Milliman. Amma has a particular passion for bringing profit and purpose together, in championing impactful and responsible social business as the future of our economy.
Amma was an UnLtd award winner in 2011 and a scale up award winner in 2013. She is also a trustee of Business Launchpad, London’s leading youth enterprise support charity, helping under thirty-year olds to start their own businesses.
On her appointment, Amma said: “I am delighted to have been appointed UnLtd’s newest (and youngest) trustee. UnLtd were the first organisation to support me and my vision to ‘revolutionise education’ back in 2011. I’ve continued to actively engage in the organisation’s commitment to supporting social entrepreneurs to deliver important impact. I am proud to have the opportunity to reinvest my time, experience and expertise in the social enterprise sector in this way. I am entirely committed to finding, nurturing and encouraging similarly minded social change makers in our communities.”
Amma added: “It is our responsibility to find the thousands of people across the UK, who have the passion, potential and drive to impact our society for the better – particularly those who like me, may be harder to ‘see’. I relish the opportunity to pay it forward!”
Mark Norbury, UnLtd CEO, said: “Amma’s appointment comes at a hugely exciting time for UnLtd and the social entrepreneurs we support. Amma joins our diverse, talented trustees, enhancing the depth of experience and understanding of our work. This appointment means we are in an even better position to support social entrepreneurs to deliver solutions to some of society’s most complex challenges and transform our world for good.”
